About this tool
Senet is a free online game. Ancient Egyptian race game on a 30-square track using throwing sticks; bear all pawns off first. Rules are a scholarly reconstruction. Play instantly — no install, no waiting. It runs entirely in your browser — no download or sign-up needed.
A 3×10 chessboard with 5 chess pieces on each side. Throw 4 wooden sticks (each on both sides, one side is marked) to determine the number of steps: 0-4 marks facing up correspond to 1-4 steps, and all marks facing up are 5 steps. The pieces advance along an S-shaped path from top left to bottom right.
Pieces can be moved to an empty position or to a position where there is only one opponent's pawn (knocking the opponent back to the starting point). Special squares have meanings: 15th square (rebirth), 26th square (happiness), 27th square (water, chess pieces fall into waiting), 28th square (three truths, you must throw 3 to leave), 29th square (evil).
The party who moves all the pieces off the board first wins. The strategy is to block the other party's path and use special grids. The wooden stick is thrown using random numbers, and the chess pieces are moved using CSS animation.
Ancient Egyptian Senite, one of the oldest board games, played by throwing a stick to determine the number of steps, and the pieces followed an S-shaped path to the finish line to win.
