About this tool

Van Allen Belts is a free online visual effect. Earth radiation belts 3D visualization, inner and outer belt particle trapping. Interactive eye-candy rendered live on your screen. It runs entirely in your browser — no download or sign-up needed.

When opening the page, it will display the Van Allen radiation belt around the earth. Charged particles are captured in the earth's magnetic field, forming two inner and outer radiation belts. Parameters such as observation angle and particle density can be adjusted.

The whole process is purely front-end animation, drawing the earth and radiation belts based on Canvas, and using magnetic field line equations to calculate particle trajectories.

It is suitable for use as science popularization of space physics, display of the Earth's magnetic field, or purely appreciating the structural beauty of the Van Allen radiation belt. The realization principle is the dipole magnetic field equation.

The Van Allen radiation belt is a visual effect that displays the structure of the Earth's Van Allen radiation belt, based on real-time rendering on Canvas.
